Ba Noi translates to ‘Grandma’ in Vietnamese. Our late grandma Bon Thi Nguyen, was the primary source of culinary inspiration for Banoi. Her passing sparked a collaboration between family members to recreate traditional recipes that had been passed down through generations.
Growing up in a family that lived and breathed good food, the idea to open a restaurant was something we knew we'd always venture towards.
The success of our first store in Docklands in 2013 exceeded our expectations and we were soon preparing for the next one.
Today, we have 3 locations in Australia and each store has its own unique character, but all share one common theme; traditional recipes injected with a little modern fun.
Till this day, compelling stories of our grandma still resonate deeply with us. Whether it’s stories about her scintillating years as the matriarch of her fishing village in Nha Trang, or stories about her dire efforts to save her family fleeing a war-torn Vietnam by boat.
We want everyone who visits Banoi to experience a part of our journey. We want Banoi to be a place where people come together to share their love of food, culture and family.
Banoi put simply, is who we are.
